The Queen's House Ice Rink is open from 23 November 2023 – 7 January 2024.
Skate sessions are available every day except Christmas Day.

Skating with children
The minimum age to skate is three years old. Children three to twelve years must be accompanied by an adult (18+) on the ice. Children thirteen to fifteen years must be supervised by an adult (18+) at the rink and accompanied at the skate exchange. A ratio of one adult to five children will be accepted.

Food and drink
Warm up with hot drinks and seasonal fare at the Benugo café, which is located inside the skate exchange, next to the ice rink. The café opens daily (except Christmas Day when the rink is closed) from 11am (23 November – 21 December) and from 10am (22 December – 7 January). The café will close at 8.15pm daily.

How many people can skate at the same time?
The Queen’s House Ice Rink has been rated as comfortably accommodating 340 skaters per session. The rink operates to a minimum measurement of 3sqm per skater which is much larger than is required, so we would never have too many skaters on the ice.
Ice Marshals are present on the rink at all times during all sessions and you are required to adhere to our safe skating guidelines. It is a public ice rink that caters for all ages and abilities. The ice rink is not for professional use, and as such, skating at speed, skating backwards, tricks and acrobatic manoeuvres are not permitted - this is for the safety of all skaters. During busy sessions, the ice surface can become rutted due to the action of skating. Please ensure that you are skating in a suitable manner, always keeping a look out for ice conditions and other skaters.

How do I get to the Queen's House Ice Rink?

When should I arrive?
Please arrive at the skate exchange 15-30 minutes before your session start time to allow enough time to put your skates on and store any belongings.
Please only bring essential items to the rink with you. There are cloakrooms, but the space available is limited. Our staff will not be able to look after your belongings for you.

How long do skating sessions last?
Sessions on the ice are 45 minutes. The session starts from the time on your ticket. Please arrive at the skate exchange 15-30 minutes before your session start time to allow enough time to put your skates on and store any belongings.

Can I bring my own skates?
Yes, you can bring your own skates. However, organisers are not responsible for your skates, shoes or property when skating at our rink. There is no reduction in price if you bring your own skates.

What happens if the weather is bad or the ice is wet?
The ice rink will operate in nearly all weather conditions thanks to our advanced cooling equipment. In the unlikely event that the ice rink must close, alternative sessions will be offered. We will endeavour to provide you with as much notice as possible and reschedule your booking at another available time slot this season agreed with you. Any contact will be in the form of an email, so you are advised to check your email inbox before visiting to avoid an unnecessary journey should your ticket be cancelled. We regret that no refunds will be given due to bad weather. Outdoor ice rinks are subject to the elements. Due to rain, unseasonably warm weather, high winds or a combination of these weather conditions, the surface of the ice rink can develop a layer of water. It is safe to skate on a wet rink. We advised wearing gloves – not only to help with the cold but also to aid traction on the ice when getting up should you fall.

What should I wear?
We recommend wrapping up in warm, outdoor clothing and please wear gloves. On all outdoor rinks there is a risk of getting wet from surface water on the ice. We suggest bringing spare socks for after your session in case your skates get wet. The rink is safe to skate on if it is raining or snowing, but you will be open to the elements. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. We have extra Gloves and Socks available to purchase on site, but we still recommend you bring your own as these are subject to availability.

Can I leave my bags?
Bags of any description are not permitted on the ice, so we advise only bringing essentials with you. Please do not bring large baggage, as there will not be space to store it securely. Limited storage will be available at the rink, subject to availability on the day. It costs £2 per item and is payable by card. Cash cannot be accepted. Storage facilities are used entirely at your own risk. Operators Arena Group and Royal Museums Greenwich do not accept any liability for loss, theft or damage except if caused by intent or gross negligence of the company or its employees.

Is there a minimum age to skate?

A ratio of one adult to five children will be accepted. You can skate on our rink up to any age, although you undertake skating at your own risk. Skating is not recommended for pregnant women or anyone with serious illness or heart conditions.

Can I book a Children's Skate Aid?
Penguin skate aids are available for children visiting the rink. These are £5 to hire and are available, subject to availability. Skaters can be up to 120cm to use the skate aid. You may be able to hire a skate aid at the rink, subject to availability. They are very popular, so we recommend
booking one in advance by contacting us to pre-book.

Do you have helmets?
As an optional safety extra, we will offer free of charge helmets at the rink, subject to availability. We offer three sizes, inclusive for children, teens, and adults.
Please be aware, like skate aids, helmets are limited in numbers. You must contact us to pre-book your helmet.
